Description: Rarely larger than 1.5 cm in height; olive green in color with lengthwise pale orange or yellow stripes; tentacles are usually grayish or whitish; sometimes has a light ring around mouth; animals will expell long, delicate threads of stinging cells if disturbed. Habitat: Found on pilings, shells, rocks and pieces of waterlogged wood on muddy substratum, occasionally found on floats. Natural History: It can tolerate a variety of environmental conditions. This sea anemone was introduced into Puget Sound from Asia. We found this anemone at Percival Landing. |
