Phylum Nemertea Class Anopla Order Heteronemertea Family Lineidae Genus Micrura Species verrilli |
Description: About 10 mm wide and 46 cm long; color is white with reddish-purple rectangular blocks down the back; head is orange and rounded; body is slighlty flattened toward the posterior end with a small tail; sensory slits extend down each side of the body. Habitat: Found under rocks in sand or mud; also found around algal holdfasts. Natural History: They feed upon crustaceans, polychaete and other nemertean worms. This nemertean worm was found in the mud at Priest Point Park. |
